The tone and mood is depressing and sad.
It does change and it becomes happy and joyous.

The external conflict is Hitler because he is a person and he is a problem.

The internal conflict is want and hope, because the Jews want to survive and they slowly lose hope as time goes on.

Irony, because they escape from the sewers only to live on trains and to live a very poor life.

When they get out of the sewer. We know that this is the climax because this is what they've been trying to accomplish all along.
