Krystyna Chiger was a seven year old Jewish girl who lived in Lvov, Poland during the time of the Holocaust. Her parents names were Paulina and Ignancy Chiger and her younger brother's name was Pawelek Chiger. Together their family escaped from liquidation hiding in the sewers along with 17 others. This made a group of 21 people. They lived in the sewers together for 14 months. The remainding of the group survived because of a Polish sewer worker named Leopold Socha. After the Holocaust, the Chiger family left Poland for Israel. Now, Krystyna Chiger is a retired dentist living in Long Island. She also wrote a book about her experience, it is called The Girl in the Green Sweater. The Girl in the Green Sweater was made into a movie which was titledIn Darkness.
